Longwood Rotary Club
2007-2008 Committee Descriptions
Mission Statement
The Mission of the Longwood Rotary Club (“Club”) is to provide leadership, skills, and resources to improve the quality of life in our community and the world at large.
Vision Statement
The Longwood Rotary Club is a service organization that provides leadership, skills, and resources to improve the quality of life in our community and the world at large. We give back through focused service projects, reacting to community needs, and working with other non-profits organizations. Membership in the Club encourages a high degree of personal involvement and embodies the motto of "Service Above Self."
Club Committees
The Longwood Rotary Club embraces the Four Avenues of Service, which are Community Service, Vocational Service, International Service, and Club Service. The Avenues of Service form the basic committees of our Club. Community, Vocational, and International Service are addressed by individual committees while Club Service is covered by four committees: General Club Service, Membership, Fundraising, and Programs.
Chairs of each committee generally are Board members and Officers selected by the Club President to lead the committee. Committee chairs help establish budgets, act as liaison to the Board and Officers, and seek Club member participation in various activities. Chairs are not expected to run each service project. The Club President is on each committee.
The Club Foundation is not a Club committee per se, but a separate entity as described below.
The following is a brief description of each of Longwood Rotary Club’s standing committees and related activities:
